Katy Perry Unplugged

Innocently channel surfing the other day I stumbled upon Katy Perry's recently released unplugged performance.

Not really a huge pop music lover, but this performance is a very intimate one and of course being MTV Unplugged acoustic in nature.

I picked up the cd/dvd combo at the local Best Buy for $11.99 and highly recommend it even if you don't like pop music. It is a very emotional involving performance.

If you like Tomasz Stanko give a listen to the Italian trumpet player Paolo Fresu. The recording by Carla Bley "The Lost Chords Find Paolo Fresu" on the Watts/ECM label is a good place to start.

In addition you may also enjoy some of Stanko earlier recordings, such as the 1997 recording on ECM "Litania: The Music of Krzysztof Komeda". Another CD filled with beautiful and haunting music. And of course don't forget to try any of the recordings Stanko made with Komeda back in the 19609's such as "Astigmatic".

Deck's Like the Wind

Perhaps impatience is my fatal flaw, the thing that keeps me forever this close to complete and undying happiness, but never quite there. I’m impatient. About certain things. I’m impatient, for instance, about acquiring a cassette deck. My cassette collection is growing large. My colorful cassettes sit on my little footstool, waiting to be played, looking at me like what the hell. What the hell?

Question on balancing speakers

So I was lucky enough to find a pioneer tower speaker just sitting on the curb outside my house. I thought there was no way it would work, why else would someone throw it out unless it was broken? I plugged it in anyway to check, and it worked! Anyway I thought I would use it to replace my left speaker in my stereo setup, which has a messed up woofer. The problem is that my new tower speaker is about 3x the size as the right speaker now.
