The May 2010 issue of <i>Stereophile</i> is now on newsstands. Jon Iverson opens this issue by exploring “The Holy Trinity of Audiophiledom.” The idea was born on the morning of February 9. I had sent an e-mail to Jon, directing his attention to <a href="http://forum.stereophile.com/forum/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=82398&an=0… post</a> in our forum regarding one reader’s experience with cassettes and cassette decks. Jon responded by directing <i>my</i> attention to that morning's <a href="http://cgi.stereophile.com/cgi-bin/showvote.cgi?663">Vote question</a>, which also dealt with cassettes.

Hello Everyone,
This past weekend I had the pleasure of seeing Mark Tolstrup and Paul Geremia along with Taz Cru at the Caffe Lena in Saratoga NY. Not only was it a chance to visit a very historic venue, but it reacquainted me with something that has too long been missing from my HI-FI experience. Experiencing a live performance. I think sometimes we get so caught up in the equipment and the media we use, we forget the most important thing, the music.

Nice work by Art Dudley on the Advent restoration this month. It seems that I am probably the world's expert on them. This happened by accident when I restored my parent's old speakers and got a bit carried away when I went to document the Large Advent. There were more variations than I thought and I therefore wanted to know about all the differences:

Never did I think the day would come when I’d be standing in a line at 10:30 am on a chilly April Saturday to get into a record store. A record store mind you that is directly across the street from the now spacious, high-ceilinged NYU offices that were once the Tower Records on Broadway in downtown Manhattan.

Marantz HDMI problems

I have a Marantz SR 7002 and a Marantz DV4001 and huge HDMI problems. I will give a little history first. I purchased a Marantz SR7001 3 years ago and after protection circuit repairs failed it was replaced with the 7002 18 months ago.

This Christmas we bought a Bell PVR and a Western Digital HD Media player and I decided that I would hook everything up with HDMI and get rid of the rat nest.
