Yep, I have had tinnitus on my left ear for many years. Mine is triggered by babies crying (luckily I don't have any), multiple female voices speaking at the same time, or loud women (luckily I don't have any of those either). Mine is not a hissing or whistling sound, but a low freq flickering in my ear. I hope you will learn to live with it, and without too many negative experiences.

I am really sorry that this is a problem for any musician or music lover.

I hope it just magically goes away.

Loud concerts as a callow yute and chronic ear infections have affected my hearing.

Had an EENT specialist "clean" my eardrums with a vacuum and steel needle. My yelling didn't slow down his enthusiasm. Should have sued him just to stop the torture he was inflicting on other patients. That started my tinnitus 20 years ago.

Don't allow oral hygienists to use a sonic cleaner on your teeth, either. The vibrations hurt my ears for weeks afterwards.

After a while you get used to it. Hi-res music and good vinyl played loudly on a good system help make up for some of the hearing loss. Honest.
