I wish HDTracks was motivated to resolve copyright issues: downloads are available only in the USA. I don't see this changing anytime soon. Apple sorted out worldwide copyright matters for iTunes, as it recognized the revenue potential.

Re: Hi-Rez Downloads Ring In the New Year

Just saw the article, thanks! I'm happy that DG is offering FLAC, just because there's more stuff I'd actually buy, based on the music. It's excellent that they have Esa Pekka Salonen/LA Phil live from Disney Hall... I'll be purchasing the two-volume Minimalist Jukebox set and the Reich album, as well as Thibaudet on Ravel's Concerto for Left Hand. And how rad is that, that ECM is on HDTracks!

This is another reason why vinyl-lovers (and a lot of you know that I'm among this camp) will be missing out by neglecting the digital catalogue. This is not the thread for that, I guess, but the rationale that true music lovers, and not audiophiles, listen to vinyl will be a meaningless claim if by listening solely to vinyl, one neglects the treasure trove of music that is only available on digital.
