At that price there are so many great options, Yamaha would be relatively low on my list. Take a look at Musical Fidelity M3si and M5si, Rega Elex R and the Rogue Audio Sphinx. You could also look at Roksan, Creek, Arcam and NAD all of which will produce more musical, great sounding gear IMO.

A few years ago when I decided to get an integrated instead of my 20 year old separates, Yamaha was at the top of my list. I listened to it side by side with NAD and NAD blew it out of the water. Yamaha isn't what it was in the mid 90s IMO. I ended up with a Rega and was extremely happy.

If the integrated lacks digital inputs, you can get a DAC or streamer. Something like a Bluesound Node2, a Marantz NA6005 or ND8006 (i think that is the model of its streamer/disc player) are wonderful and connect via RCA. If you want classic AM/FM radio you can check and see if the stations you listen too offer digital streams as digital stations or iheartradio, etc...

If that is a miss, you can find new tuners that are separate or you can pick up a used one off of Audiogon or eBay for $80-$100. I still use my old Carver TX-8 to listen to Mets games.

I auditioned this great amp today and disagree with the above genalised comments.

This amp has true grace, agility, wide wide soung stage and enormous, adictive, sense of detail.

This is a classy performer. Not beefy in character, and that is a good thing. This is a refined beast. A sonic personality.

IMO the sound quality of most Yamaha gear is only Fair, plus their amps have a tendency to produce excessive amounts of distortion when driven hard.

I can't imagine anyone buying a Yamaha amp after doing an A/B listening session and comparing it to an amp from Musical Fidelity or Arcam.

...which is $1K less and has more built-in digital and streaming features:

BTW, it also has a 32-bit/384kHz ESS Sabre DAC built-in.

Disclaimer: I have not personally auditioned either the NAD M10 or Yamaha A-S2100 -- simply an awareness comment.

I have the 2100 with the Paradigm Prestige speakers and it’s an amazing sounding product. The warmth, depth and headroom is amazing. Disregard the audio snobs.
