The other day I posted some a message with some of my favorite jazz links. Included in that message was a link to WKCR-FM which among other things features live on-air streaming via the internet and 24 hour birthday broadcasts.
Well this week there are back to back birthday broadcasts. On Thursday, March 9th WKCR-FM 89.9 in the NYC area, will have their annual Ornette Coleman b'day broadcast which will be immediately followed by the annual Bix Beiderbecke b'day broadcast on Friday, March 10th. Both of these broadcasts are 24 hours long and, since WKCR is a college station, are presented without commercials or appeals for money. Very refreshing. Just lots of great music.
So while you're web surfing you can be listening to some really fine music, free of charge, commercials and pop-up ads. Just doing my part to give everyone a heads up. Pease remember that WKCR-FM is located in the eastern US time zone, so adjust accordingly.
