If they are not right next to or crossing a lot of AC wiring I'd say: not that much.
It depends on where you're starting. If you've got a megabuck system with interconnects that cost thousands of dollars, then terminating them into those CHEAP connectors and back out the other side will hurt sound quality. OTOH, if you're using RadioShack bargain interconnects, then there'll probably be no noticeable degradation.

What are proper installation and use techniques? These things are exceedingly simple.
Indeed. But I have confidence that somebody, somewhere, can connect anything the wrong way.
And possibly kill themselves in the process. That's what the Darwin awards are for.
