is a pretty nice unit. But I might wait for the Schiit Gungnir DAC and use the Denon until I made a transport upgrade. That Denon has digital outputs?
yup, the denon has digital outputs.
what makes the Schiit Gungnir DAC better than say, the m1-dac or the m-dac, especially since it isnt released yet?
I have a spare Theta ProBasic 2 with balanced (and unbalanced) outputs that I would let you have for $500, if that would be of any help.. It is an excellent DAC that you could use with your transport. It has 3 coaxial digital inputs (originally cost $2200). I have mainly used it over the years with a Yamaha 5-disc player as a transport, which works well.
I currently use the OPPO BDP-95, wich I think is the best-sounding CD/SACD player for under $8000. It is better than my Ayre C5xe/MP, which i paid $6000 for and WAS the best-sounding unit on the market IMO until the BDP-95 came along.
