Hi Folks
Ever think about why people come up here and talk like they do? When I read the questions, responses and look at the topics it makes me think about what brought this person to this hobby. If you read carefully you can see the driving force in someone. Is it music, is it the debate/theory, is it equipment, technical, music collecting or an agenda or someone just loving the art of having this system in their room where they can fade away?
Music has always been my job and hobby. I've tried to get involved in as many parts of it as I could. My view point of this hobby probably comes most from the way I saw music being created and produced and "the hall sound", then (and at the same time) playing it and having my own stereo stores. It's given me I think a pretty rounded view of how things work, and especially how things sound. I don't go through the "real sound" thing that I see a lot of guys go through cause I know what the real sound, sounds like. Having that sound burned into my brain as my job is like starting the car in the morning without thinking. I can't change a tire or plan diner, but I can reference a recording and make a mean soundstage in the studio or home. I also try not to over tech-na-fy, things. Too much of the tech side only takes me away from what I enjoy. This doesn't mean I don't get tech-y, it just means I don't get side tracked much (no time or desire).
I can absolutely see my background and personal experience and bias coming out on this forum. What background or desire brought you here?
