The MF amp is excellent; it will be a huge improvement to your system.
But it sounds like the real problem you are having is something to do with your audio source, or your current amp is defective.
Without more info there is no way I can tell you what might be wrong there.
I mainly use itunes when streaming music. I have it set to the highest quality possible: 192kHz, bits per sample: 24. I use an hdmi 2.0 for a connection.
Commsysman is right - more information is needed.
You wrote that whenever you change anything related to the preamp, then you have distorted sound. My first reactions is: What exactly are you changing on the pre-amp that results in the distorted sound?
