i wanted some opinions about my setup and about an upgrade :-)
I have an AV receiver from CA --> AZUR 751r v2 which i am using in stereo mode and for speakers i use the kef r500 which i found couple of months back for a very good price in almost mint condition.
For streaming (spotify) i am using chromecast and upscaling from the receiver, which is sounding very ok. As a cd player i use my ps3, connected via hdmi to the cambridge. So my receiver is my dac in the moment.
Yesterday i compared the sound of ps3 (cd player) with my oppo 205. The oppo is actually in a different room for my little home cinema. So i compared the dacs of the cambridge with the dacs of my oppo. It was no surprise that the oppo is little brighter and has more details then the dac of the CA 751r. Do you think i would get little more musicality with a Rega Apollo CDP? Fortunately my receiver has direct input, so the sound will not be altered or digitally processed from its dac and i can use it as power amplifier.
Also for streaming i am concidering a used Bluesound Node 2, if i find one. But only if i was convinced that the Bluesound sounds better than my upscaled chromecast audio.
I dont know if my R500 are the bottleneck of my system.. and i dont know how if some stereo amplifiers in the range of 1000-1500USD will give me some better stereo sound?
if you have any recommendations i would be thankful :-)
