I think most of us build & upgrade a system one piece at a time.
If we were to take a poll, I think it likely most respondents would advise to invest in good speakers first.
Buy a set speakers that will be capable of performing well above your current gear, and as you upgrade, your speakers will always deliver the potential within the rest of your gear.

In your case, seeing as you already have such an extensive vinyl collection, i don't see any issue with getting good TT now. Nothing is worse than ruining a perfectly good collection by playing them on a worn / miss-adjusted table. Get a nice table now wit the intention of upgrading other components in the future.

What ever is t is that you decide to do, make sure you are keeping your vinyl clean.
Minimum requirements are a manual cleaner like the Spin Clean & a carbon fiber brush.

Enjoy the analog!

Hello.
The short answer is : yes, it's an excellent product at a very low price but ...
The comment by wkhanna is correct: nothing changes and influence the sound of a hi-fi as the quality of the speakers.
Invest your 500-600$ first there , read the reviews, particularly in the price range or type of speakers you can buy , and after that go for your turntable .
That said, I tell you that I have one of the very first Project Debut Carbon to be sold, and I am very happy with the purchase nearly 2 years later.
The PDC is impeccable in appearance, works smoothly , and has a clean , crisp sound with some weight in the bass.
I purchased the Speed Box later and got an small improvement in the sound (more precise bass and more clarity in the midrange, treble unchanged ) and finally bought new cables to the phono preamp, which brought marginal improvements but improvements nonetheless. Total cost: 399$ Debut Carbon + 129 Speed Box + 85$ Audioquest cables: 613$
I have over 3,500 records, and I assure you is an investment more than justified , maybe the last turntable you will need, but buy the speakers first ... and the rest of your hi-fi would seem to have improved instantly!

This is my first post here. So hopefully i am posting it correctly ! I currently use a SONY PS-LX 210 turntable and have over 1000 vinyls and started recently buying the new ones (180G) and i feel i'm due for an upgrade !

I am not sure if i should go with the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon, i'm worried my sound system is not up to par for it. But i can't upgrade the sound system, budget right now will only allow for a new table,
so about 500$-600$.

My system is a PIONEER VSX-D309 receiver with PIONEER CS-T2100-K (150W) speakers and a OMAGE BIG BOOM 10 SUBWOOFER. There is no PHONO input on the receiver so i use a TECHNICS SU-Z55 amplifier as a "pre-amp".

Am i on the right track buying such a turntable or am i off-track here ?

Thanks !

I suggest that you get the Music Hall MMF 2.2 turntable, which is excellent for $450.

I also suggest that you get the NAD PP 2i Phono Preamp, which is $169 most places, but Amazon is selling now for $99. It is very good, and is one of the few for that price that can be used for either MC or MM cartridges. That will really make a difference!

When your budget allows, I suggest that you get either the Music Hall 15.3 amplifier or the NAD C326BEE amplifier. That should give you a big improvement also.

I guess i can't wait to upgrade my low end SONY PS-LX 210 and budget won't allow to get new speakers like suggested. So i figured that getting a 500$(CDN) table wasn't worth it if i keep my current sound system so i went and got the Music Hall USB-1 for 330$(CDN) and am actually pretty impressed, it's an upgrade for sure over what i had so that will do it for now !!! Thanks for the suggestions and i'll keep reading posts so if ever the budget gets better i will for sure get info here on how to upgrade !!!

as long as you have found value in your purchase, all is good.
I do hope you work on keeping that collection clean & well cared for.

enjoy the analog,

Bill
