The amp came with KT88-98 tubes and I'm looking to buy my boyfriend some upgraded tubes. Obviously, I can't ask him because this will be a gift and I am completely ignorant about this whole topic.

I know that he's looking to improve his midrange sound and from my cursory research, I've found that EL34s might a way to go.

Any recommendations?
