The last post in the Loudspeakers category of the Hardware Forum was a week ago. What's up with that? This is a forum for people who are interested in music and hi-fi, isn't it? STEREOPHILE is the leading American magazine on those subjects...isn't it?

My diagnosis: Too many forum categories! There may be 10,000 registered users, but the traffic day to day seems extremely light. I think we are just spread out too thin, and that a stream-lined, condensed forum might be just the ticket to liven things up. Probably 5-10 categories, top, would be quite sufficient.

And now, what you've all been waiting for: "Dougy's Revamped, Condensed, Homogenized, Stream-lined and Well Thought Out forum category list!

STEREOPHILE PHODDER: comments on anything and everything appearing in the monthly mag

HARDWARE: self-explanatory (speakers, amps. source components, etc

MUSIC: all conversations on music, musicians and recording formats and relative sound quality of same

THE ENTRY LEVEL: just like the current one: a place for newb and all "basics" questions

THE OPEN BAR: anything goes (well, almost); a place for non-audio/music banter

ODDS&MODS: everything else: wire, stands, room acoustics, tweaks of all kinds, etc

...Well, that's six to start. I think that would accomodate most people most of the time.

Suggestions? Your own (inferior ) lists? Critiques?
