I have been trying to research as best as I can on this forum and on the Stereophile website some components to build a new system with but have ended up with a list far too long to choose from. Right now I have a Denon 3805 receiver, Yamaha DVD player and a pair of Focal 806s that I currently listen to music on, mostly blues, and classical. My listening room is about 12X14.
I am looking to upgrade in the near future and do not know where to turn to. Right now I am planning to spend about $5000 on an integrated amp, digital source, wires and some room acoustics treatment. I will keep the Focals for now, and in a few years look at buying some floor standing speakers in the $4k range. I read the post about the $5k system, but that included speakers, would the recommendations be that different with the money reallocated a little differently?
Some of the pairings I was considering were the Ayre C7 and NAD C372 or the C372 with the Marantz 8003, Primare I30 and Primare CD31. The Creek Destiny and NAD M3 have interested me, any suggestions on a CD player to pair with either of these? I might spend a little more for the McIntosh MA6300 integrated amp, but I am thinking that there might be a better choice than this. Maybe a fully loaded Toyota is a better choice than an entry level Lexus?
I was also going to add the Wadia 170i Transport to the system for my ipod. I was also wondering if it would be a good idea to only have an integrated amp with the Wadia, and exclude a CD player? My last problem is that I currently live in Indonesia and have no way to listen to these components. I am just looking for some help to narrow my search so I don't waste a lot of time when I get back to the US in finding something I like. Your help is greatly appreciated.
