A couple of years ago I was tempted by some Tannoy DCT6 SEs (rather like millions of other people from how much I read about them). At the time I did not have much time to spend on looking for the perfect receiver, so I picked up a Yamaha RX-V475 for a song at a local shop.
My wife and I have since moved to the US, and on unpacking I've realised the Yamaha does not have a voltage switcher. It will probably be donated to a sibling on my next trip back to the UK.
I was hoping for advice on a new receiver, something in the sub-$800 range, which would be better matched to the Tannoys and hopefully deliver a better sound. One thing I am not interested in is using anything more than two channels. We use various set-top boxes and what not, so a receiver with HDMI inputs is needed, but I don't see many stereo (i.e. non-surround) receivers except for the Arcam SR250 which is over budget.
Does anyone have any advice on a good pairing for the Tannoys, which are well-worn-in now and really sounding decent even on the Yamaha, that I can procure here in the USA without too much difficulty?
(Spotify built-in is something I have become used to, but I have no idea how pervasive it is at this price point, or if these features are considered gimmicky by some manufacturers?)
Advice greatly appreciated.
