If there were only one thing (which there isn't, I'm just saying) that I had a chance to thanks Sam Tellig for in this world, it would have been his introducing me to a friend I never met but felt as though I knew.

Sam made me feel I had an audio buddy and soul mate in his friend Lars Fredell. Lars died five years ago, but I think of him at least weekly. For as long as I am able to hang on this mortal coil (and I'm sure it's true for others in the hobby who "knew" him as, as well) Lars will live on.

Sam really nailed what it's like to love audio when he wrote about Lars. Sam described Lars as possessing the perfect optimism that defines us audiophiles...that un-kill-able certainty that sonic bliss is just one tweak or product away.

Sam also depicted via Lars that other nearly universal audiophile trait - the thrill of new sound, or the next revelation.
