I'm just wondering, out of all the little audiophiles on the planet, what the percentage would be that obsess over "S&B" (that's "symmetry & balance", NOT sex & beer) within the confines of their listening spaces. You know, like the speakers have to be exactly symmetrically placed within the room, furnishings, decorations, EVERYTHING has to be symmetrical. Is this just normal audiophile behavior or is it something else altogether? Is being an audiophile nothing more than being a music lover who also happens to have a degree of obsessive/compulsive disorder? Or can you be an audiophile and have no O/C issues?
See, in our family room, where my two-channel rig resides, the speakers are on one short wall while the couch is about six feet from the back wall. On the side walls are a love seat on the left and two CD shelf units on the right. And it's this imbalance that is eating away at my inner peace. Of course, I KNOW imaging and balance would be improved by getting rid of the perfectly good love seat and replacing it with a matched (naturally) pair of recliners or swivel rockers, one on each side wall, with one shelf unit going along each side wall -- Balance!
I think my wife would like an answer soon.
