As a newbie to recent gear advances, I am seeking some advice from the knowledgeable contributors to this wonderful website. I have recently purchased a pair of B&W CM5s and I would love some help with pairing an integrated amp. I have had recommendations of the Marantz PM6005 and the FMJ A19 from friends but I would like to gather further recommendations before making a purchase.
I am told that modern speakers need less power to drive than the speakers I used to own in the 70's (B&W DM4s). I am unsure of the minimum wattage required to move the voice coils at low volume or is that irrelevant with modern speakers?
Being a bass player I require an amp that is rhythmic, tight and punchy (not boomy). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
