I don't want to knock Sony as most of there products are a pretty fair value for the money. I owned the 5400 for about a year and found it OK, but like Sony's 7000 that I also owned, It just didn't get to the soul of music, I quickly became disenchanted.

I now use Ayre's latest C5 player as a transport with an Audio Research DAC8 with stunning results. The pair as left many of my die hard analog loving friends mouths agape, it's so funny.
