Hey, new user here, so excuse my wall of text that im about to write. I tend to over complicate things, sorry in advance.
I currently have the logitech z906 5.1 system for my room at home, being no hifi setup, but serves its purpose in somewhat shaking the room. However, im sort of over that "era" and ive always wanted a pure quality setup in my room, in terms of sound quality. After reading several forums, for hours, it seems like "studio monitors" are just marketing schemes? to divide the music equipment into even further more genres, and that these are perfectly fit for home audio use. With that said, this is what i was considering.
I thought of buying 2 monitors ofc, but i dont want to overspend, nor do i do any music production(however i do play piano through MIDI on my computer) + i wanted some clear sound for the piano, aswell as quality sound when listening to music. I do listen to pure piano playlists and what others might say "depressing" songs, such as all of me, etc etc. Like vocal and a couple instruments, and not full on hardstyle with 938 different effects for the chorus. Which is why it lead me to think, that monitors might be for me, + the price is compelling.
However i should state that the occasional neighbour complaint through shaking the house is always fun, so i would love to add a sub aswell.
Heres what i had in mind:
* M-audio bx5 dx3 x2 for my main speaker setup.
* Not decided on a sub yet, im trying to buy something cheap thats used, or i might just go overboard with this: Klipsch R-112SW. (on sale)
* Dont know what kind of interface i need?
* dont know what kind of cable i need? (theres unbalanced and balanced, dont really have any knowledge on that)
Im going into university and thus have to move out, which is why i didnt want to drag the entire z906 with me + im getting 2 of bx5 d3 for only 200$ which seems like a pretty good deal to me. And i could always add or remove a sub, which i cant with the z906. Meaning i could just go ahead and buy the monitors, and later add the sub if i can find anything even better and cheaper, used.
What do you guys think? any help is appreciated. I currently live in norway, and cannot use any USA only products, so if theres any reccomendation, please keep that in mind. + i dont want to ship through amazon because liability issues, warranties etc. (but that doesnt mean amazon products are off the list, just that USA only products are off the list)
MY budget is pretty much 200$ about 2000nok for a pair of monitors. I can stretch myself to 250$ but anything over, i would have to be pretty persuaded into.
Sub is essentially no limit to, it depends what kind of pricing it has here and what im getting for the price. i might add a sub, i might not add one at all. with that said, i would like the sub to be under 400$. preferably under 300$.
