Looks like the Arcam rPlay uses a TI PCM 5102 DAC. Many of the conversations I have read on-line regarding DAC's suggest it is all about the implementation. That's where the good vs. the not so good is determined. I believe that. In your price range I would check out the Allo Katana + Isolator streamer. I have one now after having gone thru a HiFiBerry Burr Brown DAC streamer and the Allo BOSS TI DAC streamer. The Katana is very smooth with great soundstage and no fatigue. Good luck.
