What distinguishes audio enthusiasts at Stereophile (regardless of budget or how objective/subjective they may be) is a sense of human maturity. And that comes from knowledge and education of audio -- both of which require time an patience.
When one doesn't understand, one tends to lash out ... and mature debates become pissing contests.
Maturity also comes with age ... so the pissy, rebellious nature of even highly-scientifically-informed groups (like hard-core objectivists at forums like Hydrogenaudio) tend to be younger. It takes, IMO, an experienced mind to realize that modern science is limited -- mostly by its history, but also reasonable/proactive imagination. That is: to mentions something such like ..." as theories are developed and empirical databases are constructed, science will probably correlate (metrically) to contentious subjectivists claims" ...
is deemed too philosophical or discordant (outside the box) and is discarded. Not only that, but there is crowd-drawing DRAMA and HUMAN INTEREST in the social style promoted at SteveHoffman and HydorgenAudio. (Low-hanging fruit is easier).
We're all victims of some level of psychopathology .... some more than other ;)
Most of the time, there is a good exchange of Music information. Still, the SH forums is communist-based in its practices.
Second Note;
I hope to meet SH in real-life, where I will deliver a good kick in his ass.
