I am looking for some help and suggestions about building a good sounding stereo system. I am currently running an Onkyo TX-SR706 with JBL Studio 36 speakers and a JBL 12' subwoofer. I am looking to replace the receiver, the main speakers, and hopefully the subwoofer as well.
Right now I can achieve very little bass response, and the sound is not precisely clear.
I have been looking at an HK-3490 and a pair of JBL Studio L 890s, or a Rotel RC-1550 pre-amp and RB-1582 stereo amp with B&W speakers (eventually). In reality, though, I am willing to entertain other brands as well.
Any wisdom you have to share would be greatly appreciated as I am nearing the end of my tether.
