So i have two thorens turntables, a td-126 and a td-160 total cost to me 18 bucks.

the td-126 is my main TT as it seems nearly mint.

Lately I have started on the path of tuning both tables for the best performance, there are some great websites with great instructions save for one little bit, what is the proper oil to use on the spindle. I have found oil such as this http://www.vandenhul-usa.com/catalog/turntable_spindle_oil_4309230.htm

but have heard that a 0W-30 weight motor oil can be just as good.

my spindles arent dry, and they are certainly not damaged, but the extremely thin film remaining makes me wonder if i should be doing something, and if that something could be really cheap.

any thoughts, insights, admonishments, and good humored ridicule are appreciated.

cheers
