After having my "ears" opened by my Grado sr-80 headphones, I want to upgrade my stereo system. In particular speakers and cd/dvd player.
First, here's what I've been using for about 20 yrs!
Denon integrated amp: PMA-300v
Cerwin Vega D5 speakers (surround on 12" subs falling apart)
Pioneer cd player (recently broke)
I listen to rock, jazz, swing, but my wife likes pop & dance music.
Well, as you can see I'm in pretty bad shape
1st up is speakers. Budget is $900. I'd like full range with strong bass as my wife likes to have dance parties. I'd prefer full range floor standers instead of bookshelf w/ sub. I'm thinking JBL L890s which I've seen for $860 a pair shipped. Any other suggestions?
Next I need a new upscaling dvd/cd player. Any suggestions for as close to $100 as possible?
