I'm actually doing the same thing now but for a home office. One item i would consider is looking at powered speakers (likely Studio Monitors).

I ended up going with Adam's A7X for the setup, which are a well respected studio monitor. I personally preferred these to the KEF speakers you mentioned.

Depending on your application, I would take look at some of the pro monitors and see if the sound is for you. Of the ones I listened to Adams and Genelec were at the top of my list. Really like PMC, but those are in another league entirely.

I use a Big Blue speaker from Brookstone in my other rooms. It is a Bluetooth speaker that stands by itself. I can connect to the iTunes library on my MAC Mini via my iPhone or iPad with home sharing and stream to it via Bluetooth. I can also use Pandora and let it introduce new artists. It's everything I'm looking for when I'm not listening in my main system.

hey - try looking into Naim mu-so if it fits your budget, or Q Acoustics Q-BT3 for a cheaper alternative.
