Shindo - Art says Art's review was valid

From the June issue actually -  AD did a "follow-up" review of his Shindo preamp.  Usually, a follow-up is for a definite reason - e.g., to provide measurements to go with a subjective review, or to listen to a revised model, or to get another reviewer's opinion, or to resolve conflicting reports, etc..  But in this case, AD just seemed to say that he still really really likes the preamp he himself reviewed before (even though the RCA jacks are fragile and break).  OK, but that's not really not a follow-up, is it?

Three years

Anouther reason follow up's are done is the review only stays on the recmmended component list for three years then gets the boot . It's time was way over due .

yes...

OK, that's plausible.  But I wish he gave further information.  He just re-stated his original high opinion, and if a reader was interested in paying $13,500 for a preamp, it would be much more valuable if JA or someone else had listened/reviewed/measured/followed up.

3 years, huh?

What's that 'star' for in RC?  I think you need to re-think that premise.

Further information?  Go to your dealer and make up your own mind.

I do think that the defunct review process that TAS employed many years ago was valid, but it really is a question of trust. Think of how many worthy components are not getting reviewed in the pages.
