I recently aquired a Rotel RCC-945 6 disc shuttle style changer.

My current CD player is a Marantz VC6001

I always wanted a single disc player but I got a good deal on the Marantz and now that I have had a changer for a while I have gotten used to loading it up for an afternoon in the apartment which is nice.

I came across the Rotel the other day and the price was right so I decided to pick it up.

I ended up enjoying the shuttle system much more than I anticipated. The single disc tray is nice for when I just want to listen to one album and I like the shuttle changer much better than the tray on the Marantz. Sure it takes a few minutes to load up all the discs but the time between disc changes on the Rotel makes the Marantz look like a snail.

So, I like the functionality of the Rotel much better but when I tried listening to the same track in both players the Marantz took the cake. I am assuming this is due to the fact that the Rotel was manufactured circa 2000 and the Marantz DAC is superior.

The Manual for the Rotel says it has a 1bit PWM DAC, I have no clue what that means or how it compares to the Marantz. I was thinking about picking up a stand alone DAC and using the Rotel as my transport but I have heard bad things about Rotel's digital outputs.

I need to make a decision... Keep or Sell the Rotel

and thoughts?
