You will run the audio output via RCA cable from the DVD player to the receiver and run the video outputs directly to the TV. Your receiver won't have connections that are more modern than RCA.
Your DVD player should probably have a COMPONENT-VIDEO output which uses red and white jacks for the audio, which you will connect to the receiver.
The video jacks are typically labelled yellow green and blue and will use three RCA video cables to go to the corresponding COMPONENT-VIDEO input jacks of the TV.
