I'm putting my new turntable system together (thanks to all to gave me great advice in my previous post) and I need some cartridge advice. My last turntable was a JVC AL-L2OR with linear tracking and my new table (hooray) is a used Rega P5 with an RB700 arm, needless to say I have quite a bit of catching up to do and alot of questions to ask.
I recently purchased a used Quad 34 preamp to go with my Quad 405 and the phono module in the back is marked with a value of 100uv. What does that mean and how does it relate to the cartridge output? Is the module for a MC or MM and can it used with either type of cartridge? I've read alot of good reviews and would be looking for a used Shure V15VxMR or Dynavector 10X5. Can either one be used with my setup with good results? Are there any other cartridges in the $200-300 range that would work? Do I need a phono preamp because of the phono module in the Quad 34 and if so what model?

Whew! Thats it for now, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
