Was wondering if any of you good folks could help me out with a recommendation of a good speed strobe.

I borrowed Robert's 20-year-old Linn strobe to check the speeds on my Artist and was dismayed to see a perceptible amount of wow, about two lines per revolution. While small in absolute terms (I think I calculated it to be less than 0.3%) it did make me wonder what could be causing it. Since the deck has a servoed DC motor I suspected a mechanical problem rather than an electrical one and carefully checked the platter for eccentricity, platter bearing alignment etc. Well, the deck is certainly made with extraordinary precision; no problems there!

I asked Robert who said that the strobe had shown the same thing on every deck he had ever set up and that he had concluded it was an inherent inaccuracy in the strobe. Finally, Pierre Lurn
