I invested $600 on a Grado woodbody moving iron cartridge. I don’t remember the model and cannot find my box. It is very “flat” to me. I have heard that this is a very desirable trait to purists, but I do not like the sound. It almost sounds like a mono cartridge; the stereo separation is so poor. My Denon TT w $160 Denon cartridge sounds much more ‘live’ to me. I have a Merrill Heirloom TT w an SME titanium tone arm. I have been recommended the Orotofon Black cartridge. George Merrill here in Memphis, maker of the GEM Dandy TT and co-inventor of the Merrill-Williams R.E.A.L. TT, will install it for me. He put my Grado on. Most of my vinyl is 80s rock and 90s country. I will be using the Merrill to download my vinyl to my iMac. Thanks for your input.
