I am looking to get a new receiver, something mi-range, though even that pricing may be a little steep for me. I was thinking of going used. Any suggestions?
I'm also looking ot buy a pre-amp. My roommate bought a record player, and the level is so low we have to turn it all the way up to listen at a reasonable volume. This, of course, causes all sorts of distortion. I've seen some really cheap pre-amps on amazon.com, like under $20. I'm sure they're not very good, but do you think a cheap pre-amp is better than none?
I know that if I buy a receiver with a phono-input, I can skip the preamp altogether. So maybe the right receiver can solve all my problems?
