I would avoid putting the speakers on the same surface as the turntable, though. Stands for the speakers would be a plus.

...Forget to budget for Cleaning Supplies.

A Disc Washer & Carbon Fiber Brush are what I recommend for those getting started.
Attached as an example, only.
You may better pricing.

FNG here looking to put together a new component system after a renewed interest in vinyl. Just looking for something to get started with that I can improve as funds allow.
I've already purchased a Project Debut Carbon turntable based on reviews and am in need of an integrated amp and a set of speakers. System is for a good sized master bedroom suite. I'm considering Yahama's AS500 amp and a set of Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 speakers. Cost for the 2 components is $750. Is this a good match based on power/impedance of the amp and speakers?

Thanks in advance, GW

IMO the Yamaha amplifier is a VERY VERY poor design, and almost anything would be better. I strongly recommend you not buy it.

I recommend the Music Hall 15.3 amplifier, which you can get for $550 at Audio Advisor or Music Direct. It is excellent.

My second choice woul be the NAD C326BEE amplifier, which costs the same.

The Music Hall 15.3 comes with an integral phono stage; the NAD would require the purchase of a separate phono preamp.

The 10.1 speakers are very good, but the 10.2 speakers will give noticeably more bass for a slightly higher cost.

If you need stands, get good metal rigid stands, such as the SANUS Metal stands.

I agree with commsyman, don't buy the Yamaha. NAD, Music Hall, or Creek would all make better choices. Get good speaker stands, too. You don't want them on the same surface as the turntable.
