How much would it cost?

I could comment on how good it is relative to the competition if I knew the price range.

I can say, however, that the Trio C100 and most Class D amplifiers have a dry sterile sound compared to Class AB amps.

About $550, so less than the new price. I am not looking for dry and sterile. More like warmth and a bit of lively presentation. So what would you say is the sound?

NAD's class D amps, while pricy for a "mid-priced" integrated, are apparently very very good. Krell's amps were bass heavy and sterile through the midrange - until they weren't. Hafler amps (200, 220, 500, etc) are analytical, until you replace the signal board's caps and bias up the output transistors to stay in class a longer (warning, HEAT!). Technology keeps improving and audio isn't different. As with the Hafler example, even implementation of the same design changes things. If you want a warmer amp, get a tube amp. I loved mine and will have another when my baby is older. Don't neglect a technology because someone else says stay away. Remember what cassettes sounded like until Pioneer and Teac and Nakamichi decided to change that? Class D is here to stay.
