Project Pre Box S2 Digital / Class A Rated?

Hello everyone,
Happy to be able to discuss my queries here.
I was wondering if you believe it is OK for a component to be awarded with a class A rating even if it was bettered by the DAC of a unit produced back in 2013!
Don't get me wrong, I admire and welcome the fact that such an audio technology and set of features are available at this price level.
However, when we are talking about A ratings, I would expect that it is based upon audio performance.
I would also expect that a modern DAC of this class, would better any other mainly in the reproduction of uncompressed PCM 16/44 CD-quality files.
Playing better HD files should not be a base of comparison, as, a, for an audiophile, better sound is more important than convenience and b, most of individual music collections of audio files are mainly from ripped CDs i.e. PCM 16/44 uncompressed files.
Consequently, I tend to believe that the HD markings and all the HD units and discussions are without meaning if a modern design cannot play simple uncompressed 16/44 files, better or at least as good as a good audiophile CD player...

May' issue follow up by Herb Reichert.

The follow up by H.R. in May's issue, puts things in perspective for the promising Pro-ject Pre Box S2 Digital.
Will Stereophile adjust the rating class accordingly?
