Did you give a listen to the 21L2s? I've heard both and had a preference for the 21L...the bass sounded more controlled and smooth. Granted I heard both these speakers via SS, not valves, and that may have made a difference. You are correct, there a limited reviews of either Quad but all those of the 21L2 are most complimentary. Check these out.
I used a Cayin A-50T (el-34 tube) amp with 22L's with great success. Some of the best amps ever used EL-34's. A little weak at both ends of the frequency spectrum, but oh my...the midrange!
I found a great match with the Quad 22L2 speakers and a PrimaLuna integrated amp. Beautiful, lush midrange.
My question: Should I hook up the speakers to the 4 or 8 ohm taps? The manufacturer's nominal impedance is 6 ohms. One review noted that the impedance didn't drop below 4.5 ohms. Any help is appreciated.
