Just picked up a Primaluna Prologue 1 on the used market. This is my first venture into tubes and I have to say I am quite taken with the sound - not to mention the looks.
I've heard that the Prologue 1 benefits from a change to Svetlana winged EL34s from the stock EL34s. Does anyone have any experience with this tweak? Does it provide a noticeable improvement?
Any other potential areas for improving on the sound (upgraded power cord?) are welcome as well, as it will be with me long term.
I currently have the amp and bookshelf speakers sitting on a custom wood cabinet that is about 10 feet long and 2 1/2 feet high. I notice that the bookshelves transfer vibration into the cabinet, and am wondering if this could be having a negative effect on the amp and the sound?
