My NAD 1600 has served me very well for longer than I can remember (20+ years?), but has lately been having a lot of hiccups - one channel cuts out or odd hum through the speakers. Unplugging seems to reset and correct things for a while, but I'm getting tired and a little embarrassed with these gremlins.

Is there a place to send it where qualified people could do a proper inspection/repair, and any idea how much $ that would run (In my neck of the woods Best Buy is considered high fidelity)

I would first contact NAD to find out who is authorized to do repairs in your area:

If no local help, United Radio (in Syracuse, NY) is the place where I've had to send equipment for warranty work. My understanding is that a LOT of manufacturers outsource this to United Radio:

(Fair warning: copper ain't light so you can expect out-of-pocket shipping for any one particular unit to be pricy. FedEx was cheaper than UPS - even with a declared value!)

I suggest that you get a NAD 165BEE.

That should be a significant improvement to your system.

Audio Advisor has it for $999.
