Apologies in advance for anything that sounds a bit dim - I'm very new to this!
Last year I bought two floor standing speakers - Cerwin Vega VE-8F. I currently have a power amp that has ample output to power them. I'd love to be able to use them for (the start) of a good home theatre/hi fi setup, but the amp I have is more like a DJ power amp - very basic. The speakers need 150W at 8 Ohms. A friend told me I'd ideally like about 225W per channel at 8 Ohm to power them and avoid clipping.
My problem is that I'd like an amp that will look good in the house, be easily hooked up to a home theatre or hi fi system, and have remote control. Any amp that I've found that even half covers these criteria is well in excess of £5k. I've checked brands such as Onkyo and Pioneer (I don't know many others).
Could anyone recommend brands or amps that might be suitable for what I'm looking for without breaking the bank? Budget of say £700 ($1000)?
