I have a Polk Sirius XM Radio plugged into a Yamaha DSP A1 5.1 receiver (500w total). The only speakers I have connected to the receiver are two Kef R500 speakers (25–150w) attached to the main output (110 watt, 8 Ohm). I don’t use the surround sound features of the Yamaha. Everything is connected through RCA jacks. Sounds great.

I also had a Sony 125w amplifier with nice outdoor speakers attached through baluns and CAT5e cable to the VCR3 Out jacks on the Yamaha. The run was about 120 feet. Still, all good.

Recently, I added a Rolls DA134 4-channel distribution amplifier between the Yamaha and Sony amplifier, and added two additional devices (soundbars with RCA connectors) to the Rolls. Now, the longest run is about 80 feet. The Yamaha and each of the three receiving devices are connected to the Rolls with baluns and CAT5e cabling.

There is a very loud buzz, my guess is somewhere around 2-to-4 kHz, coming from all three of the devices attached to the Rolls. This is the second, most expensive device I’ve used as a distribution amplifier. Both distribution amplifiers create this buzz.

Any ideas? My guess is that it’s one of the following issues:
• I’m asking too much of the Rolls
• The four balun pairs are causing an issue
• The Yamaha VCR3 Out port is not strong enough (I’ve tried all the Outward ports on the Yamaha resulting with the same buzz)
• The Yamaha is having trouble

Thanks in advance for your help.

Randy
