If you have a power source, have you had a chance to listen to those speakers driven by that power source? That can have a big impact.
Incidentally, both are wonderful speakers. Neither one is particularly efficient of inefficient. The Polk's have an SPL of 90dB while the Golden Ears have an SPL of 89db. I would look to drive either with at least 75 to 100w of power despite the published lower minimum power ratings.
They are very comparable speakers and if you like how they sound in show rooms, then I am optimistic you will be happy with either of them. The best situation would be to demo them in home with your gear and see which one you like better. When I bought my last pair, I picked the pair I thought I would like the best and bought them from a retailer with a 30 day return policy. I didn't return them and was extremely happy, but it was nice knowing I could.

IMO there is very little comparison; I find the Triton to be an excellent speaker, especially for its price. Its sound is very neutral and accurate for a speaker in that price range; extremely musical.
The Polks don't do much for me; very mediocre for their price IMO. I find them to be much too "hard"-sounding; bordering on harsh at times. I could not live with them at all.
