You might want to check out speakers from Salk Sound. Their Silk bookshelf speakers was named one of the world's best speakers at $3.5k http://www.audioholics.com/loudspeaker-design/best-loudspeakers-world Their Salk Sound Song3 speakers are under 3k and they are making a all new model that will use Audio Technology midrange and a all new beryllium tweeter for around 3k that will be on the market in the near future too. http://www.salksound.com

Hi. I haven't heard all those speakers, but having owned Focal Aria 906, I can say they are smooth yet detailed sounding speakers, and arent't fussy about positioning. My room is 4x4m, and for me, standmounts are enough. Try to audition most of what you shortlisted, but make sure you audition in your own home. Imo, standmounters are enough. The Focals should complement your Caspian very nicely.

Also, check out Wharfedale Jade 3 - they're amazing.

For floorstanders, since you're based in Italy, it's really worth looking for Sonus Faber Toy Tower. They are now discontinued, but maybe you get lucky and your dealer has some in stock, or find a pair of used ones in good condition.

hi rainsoothe! Thanks for your email and suggestions! Yes Focal I want to try by sure and yes, I read they go well with the Caspian. I also want to try some Sonus Faber: the toy tower and the Liuto are still on sell, do you think they are better than the Venere series? Wharfedale are not so easy to find in Italy in shops, I will have to try them in UK (my partner is from there). Thanks again!

barolo61,

All the speakers you have on your list are all mid-fi speakers. Salk Sound are High End Speakers at a mid-fi price!!... Some of the best money can buy at any price!!

On your list I like the Monitor Audio Golds. The ribbon tweeter is special in my opinion. Extraordinary detail without a hint of brightness. That being said, you won't know how they sound until you get the home. Hearing them in your space is critical.

Not sure if they are available in your market but the Revel Performan3 F206s would be worth a listen. I have the bookshelf version and love them.

Hi bierfeldt! Thanks for your comment and suggestions! Yes, I definitively want to try the Monitor Audio Gold: I am very curious of the ribbon twitter (that is also present in the Proac D20r). Unfortunately in Italy it is quite rare you have the possibility of a demo at home, so I will have to be happy of a demo with the same CD player and ampli I have, but at the shop. And unfortunately I think that Revel are not distributed in Italy, too bad. Thanks again! Alessandro.
