Hi All,

I recently purchased a Rega P1 on inheriting a small LP collection from my late grandfather, and this seemed like a good impetus to get into the analog side of things (up to now I've been a digital guy).

However, I find that when using the P1, even with the volume on my setup maxed out - a level at which the walls would otherwise blow off my house - it's barely reaching what I would call a moderate level of volume. In order to get more oompf, I assume I should buy a phono preamp. I am hoping your collective wisdom can either:

1) reassure me I'm correct about needing a phono preamp and make some recommendations (budget is <$200), or
2) correct my misconception and guide me to a solution!

The setup is the Rega P1 going to a NAD D3020, outputting to Wharfdale 10.7s.

Thank you!
