Can't imagine it matters but the "sub" I'm going to use is a gli pro XL-1580 which has dual 1/4" inputs (I'm hoping to just use one, if I have to is two I'll split the sub out to two speaker ins on the 7.1 side).
Since no one else bothered to comment the answer is yes that works, and if you need basic stereo type advice you shouldn't bother posting here.
To power that sub properly you need a separate mono power amp of 300 to 500 watts RMS.
The receiver will not adequately power it.
You need to connect the power amp between the sub out of the receiver and the subwoofer.
A question though; if the sub has 1/4 input jacks, that suggests that it is a powered sub, not a passive one.
Yes, as you know, it will work but the gli pro XL-1580 is not a subwoofer and no technical specifications are provided by the manufacturer. Performance is unpredictable.
