While I don't think this belongs in the jazz forum, I don't think it belongs in the classical one either. Anyway, my brother sent me this video last night of Paco De Lucia. I've loved and listened to Paco for years and have seen him perform a few times, but he seemed jaded and uninspired. Like he was putting on a show without any regards to the music, just to fill in his legend status.

This short clip shows a different Paco. Inspired, motivated, incredibly talented (as he always will be), fast, clean, and showing true prowess in terms of individual composition skills. The clip is only one minute long, but notice the slow melodious start, then the quick build between the two alternating chords and riffing, another segment of chords, and finally an explosion of movement. An honest and beautiful and intense piece in just one minute.

Also check out his thumb movement. Its so funny to watch the videos of him with Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin, because he's playing just as fast as those kids using his fingers instead of a pick.
