I am 20 years old, enrolled at Memorial University in Newfoundland. My father, having been a diehard music lover and listener, has owned many stereo systems since the early 70's. Upon leaving for college, my father gave me some of his vintage components:
Technics SU-V8 Integrated Amp
Technics ST-S3 Tuner
ADC Sound Shaper III, Mk II Equalizer
Pioneer CT-F1250 Cassette Deck
Kenwood KD-3070 Turntable
Realistic APM-300 Power Meters
Pioneer SR-303 Reverberation Amplifier
Panasonic DVD-S35 DVD/CD Player (obviously not vintage, but a component, nonetheless)
Pioneer HPM-100 Speakers (200w version)
Athena Technologies AS-F2 Speakers (once again, not vintage)
All of these components are in mint condition, and function excellently. I am curious to find out if this set-up is one to be proud of, not just on a personal level, having it been passed on to me from my father, but on a quality level as well.
Also, I would like your knowledgable guidance on selecting a new integrated amplifier or 2-channel receiver, keeping in mind that I am a student, and $1000 would be my limit. Cheaper than that limit would always be a plus, but i want to purchase the best product I possibly can in this price range.
Thank-you to everyone here on Stereophile in advance for any replies and guidance I receive.
