I am sure that the Nakamichi will sound much better than the Yamaha.
I purchased a '78 vintage 530 receiver ONLY because it was the companion to my 581 (and future 582?) cassette deck. After the novelty wore off I realized... It's a REALLY good 50 wpc amplifier. Like, really good. Yamaha's can sometimes sound a little washed out. For me, vintage Japanese is Nakamichi or Denon or it's just not very good. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion however, and IT'S JUST STEREO EQUIPMENT!
