The band seems to have put the media in a curious spot regarding the new releases, which haven't dropped yet. And yet still much ink was spilled, with essentially no insights provided.
If Stereophile ever decides to regularly publish a "highlights" of upcoming musical tours and expected releases---a la "Industry Update" but for announced music projects---this is where the Pink Floyd piece would have gone, and nothing more.
The attention the band spent on the 3 biggest sellers is understandable for the casual listener with money to burn.
But between that approach and say, re-leasing Meddle on a Friday Music LP (to say nothing of a more prestigious reissue label ...) I'd have preferred the latter. I really don't care if Nick Mason nor any of the other band members dismiss LPs. Or 2-channel DVDA or SACD or high res downloads. Except that it's my loss as well as theirs.
